What EMFs Do Inside the Body: The Cellular Science Explained
EMFs are invisible but your body feels them. Research shows wireless exposure may trigger oxidative stress, calcium influx, and mitochondrial disruption. Learn how these hidden stressors could affect your energy, sleep, and brain and what you can do to reduce exposure.
Understanding EMFs: What They Are and Where They Come From
Electricity in motion generates invisible energy fields. These are known as Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), and they exist on a spectrum ranging from very low frequency to high frequency energy. The EMFs we encounter in daily life are mostly non ionizing. This means they have too little energy to directly break chemical bonds or damage DNA the way X rays or gamma rays can.
Common sources of non ionizing EMFs:
- Extremely low frequency (ELF) fields from power lines, household wiring, and electrical appliances.
- Radiofrequency (RF) fields from wireless devices, WiFi routers, cell phones, Bluetooth, smart meters, and newer wireless technologies like 5G.
Because these fields are invisible, like a spiderweb of energy constantly around us, most people do not think about them at all. But the fact that they are invisible does not mean they do not interact with our biology.
