Trust Your Gut: Why Your Belly Might Hold the Key to Your Mood, Hormones, and Health
Discover how gut health shapes mood, hormones, and immunity. Learn hidden triggers like mold, histamine, and oxalates—and why healing your gut terrain is key to whole-body health and vibrant energy.

Your gut might be silently inflamed and you’d never know until it completely wrecks your health. We’re not just talking bloating. Think eczema, asthma, brain fog, arthritis and maybe even conditions like MS. That’s why all of July, and since late June, I’m laser-focused on gut health before shifting to mitochondria and energy in August. Because healing starts in your gut—or nowhere at all.

The Gut: More Than Digestion

Your gut isn’t just a poop tube. It’s actually:

  • Your second brain, packed with over 100 million neurons.
  • The production site for 95% of your serotonin.
  • Home to 70% of your immune system.

So when your gut’s inflamed or out of balance, you might feel:

  • Moody or anxious
  • Brain fogged and forgetful
  • Tired all the time
  • Struggling with skin breakouts
  • Craving sugar or feeling puffy and bloated

And here’s the kicker: sometimes there’s no stomach pain at all. Instead, your gut issues show up as body-wide chaos.

The Hidden Triggers No One Talks About

Some things quietly trash your gut terrain and leave you chasing symptoms for years:

  • Mold exposure. Ever lived in a damp house, spent time in musty basements, or had water damage? Mold toxins wreak havoc on your gut lining and immune system.
  • Histamine overload. If fermented foods, wine, or aged cheeses leave you itchy, flushed, or anxious—it might be histamine your gut can’t handle.
  • Oxalates. Spinach, almonds, sweet potatoes… all healthy, right? Not always. In some people, these high-oxalate foods irritate the gut lining and fuel inflammation.

Why Probiotics Alone Won’t Fix It

Everyone says “just take a probiotic,” but here’s the truth:

  • If your gut terrain is inflamed or toxic, probiotics often don’t survive, let alone thrive.
  • Think of it like planting wildflowers in desert sand—the seeds won’t grow if the soil is wrecked.

Instead, you have to heal the terrain first:

  • Remove inflammatory foods (seed oils, sugar, gluten if sensitive).
  • Calm gut inflammation with bone broth or L-glutamine.
  • Support drainage so toxins can leave your body.
  • Then—and only then—start adding in probiotics carefully.

A Quick Gut Check

Ask yourself:

  • Do I wake up bloated?
  • Do fermented foods make me feel worse?
  • Do I have constant fatigue or brain fog?
  • Do I feel puffy or inflamed even when eating healthy?

If yes—your gut terrain might need some love.

Why It Matters Beyond Digestion

When your gut terrain is healed:

✅ Your hormones balance more easily.
✅ Your mood stabilizes.
✅ Your brain feels clearer.
✅ Your immune system becomes more resilient.
✅ You even feel spiritually calmer and more connected.

I believe our intuition, that “gut feeling”, isn’t just random. It’s part of how we’re designed to know what’s right for our bodies and our lives. And when your gut is inflamed, it’s hard to hear that inner wisdom.
